Maxi moves from London to the tiny village of Hegthorn just before its annual festival, The Reaping, at which her best friend Kelly went missing forty years earlier.  She soon discovers life there is not as peaceful as it first appears. As she peels back veneers of tradition and comfort she uncovers disturbing secrets and whispered legends. Just as she thinks she might be close to discovering what happened to Kelly all those years ago, a link from the past leads her to a reality more horrific than she could ever have imagined.
